Apple’s iPhone 6S and 6S Plus are yet to hit the store shelves, but concept designers are brimming with imaginations of what the iPhone 7 would look like. We have already seen several iPhone 7 concepts even though the device may not arrive until September 2016. And nobody except Apple knows whether it will be named iPhone 7 or something else.
Will Apple go for a colourful iPhone 7?
Now SCAVidsHD has created a new iPhone 7 concept for Concept iPhones and shared the video on YouTube. The rendering boasts of 2K retina display. You could see dual front-facing speakers, and a USB Type-C port at the bottom. The concept iPhone 7 features a big power button on the side. The main camera has been moved from side to the centre on the back, and is surrounded by a black area. The video also shows an Apple wireless charging pad. The front camera has been bumped up to 8-megapixel.
The iPhone 7 concept is in red, gold, and glossy blue colour options. Apple is unlikely to take that colouring approach. Another thing that goes against Apple’s usual approach is that it has three capacitive buttons: Home, Menu, and Back. Do you think the real iPhone 7 would resemble this concept? A10 to be based on 16nm technology
Supply chain sources told China Times that TSMC will begin mass production of the A10 chip in March 2016, about six months ahead of the phone’s expected official launch. The new processor will be based TSMC’s 16 nm FinFET technology. The Taiwanese company will include its in-house back end integrated fan-put (InFo) wafer-level packaging.
Apple is expected to place orders for more components in the second quarter of 2016. The newest iPhone 6S and 6S Plus are powered by A9 chip manufactured by both Samsung and TSMC. The report added that TSMC will continue to supply A8 processor used in the new Apple TV, sixth-generation iPod Touch, and last year’s iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.
iPhone 7 to be slimmer than iPad Air 2
Last week, KGI Securities analyst revealed that the iPhone 7 will be the slimmest iPhone ever. Apple is working to make it just 6mm thick, even slimmer than the iPad Air 2 and iPod Touch. The brand new iPhone 6S is about 7mm thick. What’s more, Business Insider has learned from supply chain sources in Asia that the Cupertino company had asked its suppliers to produce six-element camera lenses for the next year’s iPhone.
On top of that, the iPhone 7 may offer a week-long battery life, thanks to a new fuel cell technology developed by British firm Intelligent Energy. The British firm is working closely with Apple, according to the Telegraph. Intelligent Energy recently demonstrated its technology on the iPhone 6 without altering the phone’s size or shape.
